Jawarish-e-Bisbasa is one of the polyherbal Unani compound formulations available in semisolid form in the market. The herbal formulation is being prescribed by Unani Physician for the treatment of weakness of the stomach, flatulence in the stomach, indigestion, blind piles and nausea. Self medication is not recommended however and it should be used always under proper medical guidance.
Heel Kalan ( Ammomum subulatum Roxb. Fruit) – Greater cardamom is a perennial plant producing leafy stems up to 1.5 metres tall from a creeping rhizome. The fruits are harvested from the wild for use as a food and a medicine. The plant is sometimes cultivated, especially in India and Nepal. Ayurveda and Unani, it is used as preventive as well as curative for throat troubles, congestion of lungs, inflammation of eyelids, digestive disorders and even in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. The seeds are fragrant adjuncts for other stimulants, bitters and purgatives. The seeds have a sharp and good taste and are tonic to heart and liver. The pericarp is reported to be good for alleviating headache and heals stomatitis. Decoction of the seeds is used as a gargle in afflictions of teeth and gums. With melon seeds they are used as a diuretic in cases of gravel of the kidneys. They promote elimination of bile and are useful in congestion of liver. They are also used in the treatment of gonorrhoea. In large doses with quinine, they are used in neuralgia. The seed oil is applied to the eyes to allay inflammation.
Bisbasa Myristica – It is used for are used for diarrhoea, nausea, stomach spasms and pain, and intestinal gas. They are also used for treating cancer, kidney disease, and trouble sleeping (insomnia); increasing menstrual flow; causing a miscarriage; as a hallucinogen; and as a general tonic.
Cinnamon – Cinnamon is thought to have many medicinal and soothing properties, and is used frequently in Chinese herbal medicine. The distinctive smell and flavour of cinnamon comes from the essential oils contained in the bark, called cinnamaldehyde. Cinnamaldehyde displays anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Cinnamon also contains large amounts of polyphenol antioxidants. Antioxidants can help protect the body from disease and are found in fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. The antioxidants in cinnamon have been found to have anti-inflammatory effects.
Zanjabeel – Ginger is high in gingerol, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Just 1–1.5 grams of ginger can help prevent various types of nausea, including chemotherapy-related nausea, nausea after surgery, and morning sickness. There are some studies showing ginger to be effective at reducing symptoms of osteoarthritis, especially osteoarthritis of the knee. Ginger appears to speed up emptying of the stomach, which can be beneficial for people with indigestion and related stomach discomfort.
Composition: every 5 g contains: Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) – 88.75 mg, Chinese cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) – 88.75 mg, Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) – 88.75 mg, Ginger (Zingiber officinale) – 88.75 mg, Pippali (Piper longum) – 88.75 mg, Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) – 88.75 mg, European hoof (Asarum Europaeum) – 88.75 mg, Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) – 133.13 mg, Black pepper (Piper nigrum) – 177.50 mg, Black cardamom (Amomum subulatum) – 443.75 mg, Cane sugar (Saccharum officinarum) – 1.775 g, Honey (Shahad) – 1.775 mg; Preservatives (Preservative): Sodium benzoate (Sodium benzoate).
Take 5 gram twice a day with water.
It is used in the ailments of general weakness of the stomach, flatulence of the stomach, indigestion, piles and nausea etc.
